Newport City Council’s youth and play service has been recognised for the work they do with young people in the city.
At a recent ceremony they were awarded the Education Workforce Council’s Bronze Quality Mark for youth services in Wales.
The team works with children and young people, aged from 5 to 25, by supporting their wellbeing and advising on options for their future after the age of 16.
They also work hard to prevent youth homelessness and are also available for young people to talk to a trusted adult with a listening ear.
The Bronze Level covers performance management, the quality of youth work, support with learning and development. The team had to demonstrate to assessors the work done with young people across the city.
Councillor Debbie Harvey, cabinet member for community wellbeing said: “Congratulations to the youth service on achieving the Bronze Quality Mark.
It is an outstanding achievement and showcases the hard work undertaken by the team and high quality of provision on offer. Well done to everyone involved.”
The award was presented by Andrew Borsden, Development Officer responsible for the Youth Work Quality Mark, on behalf of Welsh Government.
