School holiday fun

There is plenty going on across the city for children of all ages and abilities, and their families, during the school holidays.

Our youth and play service have organised free sessions in lots of venues.

The programme is packed with a huge variety of activities including indoor and outdoor fun, circus skills, cooking and pottery sessions, number tots and much, much more.

To find out what is going on and to book a place on our Eventbrite page or email [email protected].

Book a summer fun activity

You can also use this link to book a place at a National Play Day event taking place on 7 August. There is a change of venue from previous years and it is being held in Rodney Parade from 11am to 3pm.

As well as free activities all day for families and children of all ages, those attending can get free transport on Newport Bus to the event by showing their Eventbrite ticket to the driver.

Children can take part in the libraries’ summer reading challenge which has the theme “marvellous makers” this year. Just pop into your local library to find out more.

Newport Live will also have a programme of summer activities across its sites and you can find out more by visiting the Newport Live website.

The city’s largest free outdoor arts festival returns on 20 and 21 July. The Riverfront’s Big Splash offers live music, street theatre, dance performances, workshops, crafts and activities.

The Place, in Bridge Street, will be offering a variety of free activities for all ages in their Taste of Summer programme. More information can be found on The Place website.

Other community groups and organisations will also have activities and events planned. Discover more activities on our What's on website.
