Carrier bag and polythene recycling

Carrier bag recycling point Tesco May 2018

Many types of thin plastic polythene packaging can now be recycled at the carrier bag collection points at larger supermarket stores.

Please check with your local store or supermarket.

Polythene products such as bread bags, breakfast cereal liners, toilet roll and kitchen roll wrap, plastic-wrapped grocery produce (fresh and frozen), multipack shrink wrap, polythene film bags from household goods and plastic covers from magazines and newspaper supplements can be recycled.

Stores which collect plastic carrier bags for recycling will also accept clean plastic film packaging.

A new on-pack label will appear on packaging to encourage people to recycle the plastic films at carrier bag recycling points at the above stores.
