Covid-19:

Clean as many surfaces as possible after a journey - door handles, seat belts and buckles, and if a passenger has coughed or sneezed, physical divisions between the driver and passenger, the rear of front seats etc. 

Government advice is to 'frequently clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that are touched regularly, using your standard cleaning products'.

Visit Universal Credit for information on benefits that may be available to the self-employed during the COVID-19 pandemic. 


Payment

Because of Covid restrictions we are unable to carry out face-to-face appointments.

Please make a renewal application payment online via renewal driver payment - see deferred fees.

Existing drivers with a three-year licence can pay the annual fee.

Renewal

Because of Covid restrictions we are emailing renewal applications approximately three weeks before your licence is due to expire.

The email will contain full details of what you need to do.

If you have not received the email within two weeks of your licence expiring please email us at environment.licensing@newport.gov.uk

Medical examination 

Existing drivers will require a medical examination when they reach 45, 50, 55 and 60 years of age.

Applicants aged 65 years and over must have a medical examination each year and more frequently in certain circumstances.
