If you wish to apply as a registered Newport City Council Approved Testing Station, you need to ensure the following:

It is within the boundaries of Newport City Council
The garage has been registered as an MOT testing station for a minimum of 1 year.
The garage holds a “green rating” (low risk rating) under the DVSA Risk Assessment for MOT testing centres.
That no director, manager or vehicle (MOT) tester involved in the business is neither a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire vehicle proprietor, driver nor operator
To provide suitable and sufficient off road parking spaces for vehicles a waiting testing.
To maintain a satisfactory level of cleanliness and housekeeping and provide an appropriate waiting room for drivers.
To be able to process test fees both in forms of cash and card payment.
To have a suitable online booking system
To have adequate and valid Public Liability Insurance
To have adequate and up-to-date risk assessment for the premises that complies fully with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and any related Statutory Instruments
That all members of staff employed by the testing station will be able to comply with all required standards set by Newport City Council.
