Retail and leisure study
The Newport Retail and Leisure Study 2019 provides an up-to-date quantitative assessment of the future demand for retail floorspace across the study area over the Local Development Plan period to 2026.
The Study comprises current retail and leisure trends, the assessment of key centres, market share and capacity assessment, recommendations and conclusions and five appendices including a survey of 1,400 households within a defined study area in December 2018.
Although the Study is mainly concerned with Newport city centre, an assessment of the district centres (Beechwood, Caerleon, Caerleon Road, Commercial Road, Corporation Road, Handpost, Maindee, Malpas, Newport Retail Park, Spytty) is included.
