Food hygiene training

Food hygiene training is crucial to the safe operation of a food business whether you are a small corner shop or a large catering premises.
The training of food handlers is a consideration of the National Food Hygiene Rating assessment.

Training courses
Newport City Council food safety team provides Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Foundation Level food hygiene training (old Level 2) for food businesses across south east Wales, a standard level of training for anyone who works in a food business.
Training courses cost £50 per person and take place at Newport Civic Centre.
At least 10 people must book in order for the course to run.
The course lasts around six hours and you will be trained by environmental health staff, receive course material and a certificate on completion of the short multi-choice test at the end.

CIEH Level 3 / Intermediate Level Food Hygiene training
We can provide the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Intermediate Level food hygiene training (old Level 3) for food businesses across south east Wales.
The course takes place over three days (15 hours) and costs £275 per person.

Hosting a training event
We can provide training at your venue if you have a large number of staff to be trained and have the necessary facilities.
For large groups there may be a discounted rate.
