Support & Training
If you are assessed as a ‘Family and Friends carer’ you will be visited regularly by a social worker who will provide you with information and offer on-going support and supervision.
The social worker will help you ensure the child’s care and support plan is being carried out as it should be and will help co-ordinate any additional services. Foster Newport, alongside the Family and Friends team, offer a wide range of training courses to foster carers, including Family and Friends Carers, support groups that provide emotional and practical support, as well as children groups. The child’s social worker will also be able to discuss any additional care and support needs with you.
