Bus Services

Free bus journeys scheme for March

Bus journeys that start and end within the city of Newport boundaries will be free until 31 March on scheduled services run by the following operators:

It will also apply to the on-demand Fflecsi service which is commissioned and funded by Transport for Wales.

It will operate alongside the concessionary fare scheme, and concessionary pass holders will need to present their pass to ensure the correct level of funding is obtained from the Welsh Government.

While people who have already purchased a monthly or annual pass will not automatically benefit from the initiative, they could cancel the pass or defer purchase within the promotional period.

Pupils using school or scheduled services within the city can also travel for free.

Fflecsi bus services

Newport Bus, in partnership with TfW and the council, is now operating the Fflecsi bus service across the city to complement and enhance scheduled services.

Buses run from 6am until 11pm Monday to Saturday and from 9am until 7pm on Sunday. The scheme aims to make it easier for residents to get to work, school or appointments, for shopping, meeting friends or connecting with other buses and trains.

Buses are booked through the app or over the phone.

Once booked, Newport Bus is able to guarantee that you will have a seat and enough space to respect social distancing guidelines.

Fares are paid on the bus and are the same as on the scheduled Newport Bus services. Concessionary passes and MyTravel Pass are also valid.
