Support for households and businesses

Posted on Monday 31st January 2022

Newport City Council is reminding residents and businesses of the support available to them.

Councillor Jane Mudd, Leader of the council, said: “We know that families, individuals and businesses across Newport continue to feel considerable pressure and the post-Christmas period can be particularly challenging.

“Everyone has seen living costs increase – energy, food, clothing – plus the pandemic has also affected the income of many.

“Likewise, businesses have seen both trade affected and the cost of supplies increase.

“Just before Christmas we announced an extra £100,000 for local food banks which are providing such an essential service.

“But the council and the partners we work with can help in many ways – please get in touch if you are struggling or are worried.”

Information on the range of support and advise available is detailed on the council website.

Support ranges from help with fuel bills, to assistance in finding work or accessing training.

The council also works closely with many other supportive organisations who offer general money or debt support.
