Changes to library hours

Five city libraries – Bettws, Ringland, Rogerstone, Malpas and Pillgwenlly - will have new opening hours from Monday 26 June.
Staffing changes were agreed following a consulation on the 2023/24 budget proposals earlier this year.
Opening times in Central Library, Tredegar House, Caerleon and St Julians will remain the same.
Opening hours at Ringland Library will be increasing to 37 hours. It will now be open on a Tuesday afternoon while there are small changes to opening hours on other weekdays.
Bettws Library will now be closed on a Saturday but open all day on a Wednesday instead of closing at 1pm. Visits on a Saturday have been low since it reopened after lockdown.
Rogerstone Library will be closed all day on Wednesdays but will have slightly longer opening hours on weekdays.
Malpas Library will go back to the 20 hours part-time operation that was put in place in 2015 and was temporarily increased after reopening post-Covid.
Pill Library is being repurposed this summer to focus on the delivery of adult community classes and the library offer will be reduced. It will close on Mondays as well as the current Thursdays and Saturdays and the hours of operation are changing slightly the rest of the week.
