'Ready, Set, Read' with Newport libraries

Newport libraries are encouraging children and families to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge during July, August and September.
For this year’s challenge The Reading Agency has teamed up with the Youth Sport Trust to inspire children aged four to 11 to discover the power of sport and play through reading.
The challenge focusses on characters – brought to life by children’s author and illustrator Loretta Schauer – navigate a fictional summer obstacle course and track their reading as they go, rewarded by free incentives including stickers.
There will be lots of events and activities taking place in Newport’s libraries, including author visits and craft sessions.
The Summer Reading Challenge starts on 8 July and will run until 9 September.
