Food premises registration

If you control a premises where food is stored, prepared, distributed or sold, you need to register with Newport City Council.

Food premises include restaurants, cafes, hotels, shops, canteens, market stalls, mobile catering vans and food delivery vans.

Food businesses must be registered at least 28 days before food operations commence.

There is no fee.

Food businesses handling certain products of animal origin must not operate unless approved by the council, these are businesses like cold stores, cutting plants and other meat processing plants that handle and or prepare raw or cooked meats.
