Tenders invited to run Pavilion at Belle Vue Park

Newport City Council is inviting tenders from companies interested in taking on the catering services at the Pavilion in Belle Vue Park, Newport.

The current concession holder Parc Pantry has had the café licence for the last three years and had developed this venue into a popular destination for events, weddings or just a cream tea in the park.

Parc Pantry recently decided not to renew their licence and gave notice to the council less than two weeks ago – the Monday before car parking charges in the park came into effect.

The council had however offered Parc Pantry two permits for parking in the car park and some additional parking for café staff was also offered in the former nursery site, which is a short walk across the park.

As Parc Pantry is not renewing its licence, the council is advertising an opportunity for appropriate organisations to express an interest in providing a high quality catering service at the tearooms as well as organising events within the Pavilion building and East conservatory.

The successful service provider will have a strong inclusive, social enterprise focus or be a ‘not for profit’ organisation to continue the council’s commitment to ‘Promoting Independence and Choice Project’.

Further information regarding the licence agreement can be found at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/search/show/search_view.aspx?ID=SEP267889

Anyone interested in finding out about the tender application is welcome to attend an open drop in session on Thursday, 4 October at the Pavilion between 5pm and 7pm where you can meet members of the parks team and view the facilities.
