With just over a week to go this year’s Newport Food Festival – which has FREE admission – is gearing up to welcome thousands of visitors to the city centre.

Put Saturday, 5 October in your diary to ensure you don’t miss the biggest event in Newport City Council’s calendar.

More than 75 stallholders will be stretched along High Street inside Newport Market with more stalls and events lined up in Friars Walk and Pobl as well as inside Horton’s Coffee Shop.

The event, which is supported by Newport BID, the Celtic Manor and Friars Walk opens at 9am.

Street entertainment will be provided by Bumble Bees, the Cake Ladies and Spring Chickens who will make appearances throughout the day from 10.15am through to 3.45pm.

The council’s Flying Start group will be hosting an art workshop and face stencilling for youngsters in the Gallery upstairs at Newport Market from 11am to 4pm  and look out for the Magic Chef who will be walking around the festival from 11am to 4pm doing balloon modelling.

Newport Community Choir will also be singing– and visitors can join in too – at the Gallery in Newport Market at 12.45pm, 1.15pm, and 1.45pm.

Another highlight of the festival is the chef demos taking place at four venues around the city.

Lookout for the programme of who to catch where in the coming days.
