Posted on Friday 17th March 2017

Rogerstone Library is to close for two weeks so work can go ahead to refurbish the building.

The library, one of the most popular in Newport, will be closed from Monday, 20 March to Monday, 3 April.

The refurbishment works are being carried out to meet changing customer expectations and to improve the service delivery experience.

Once completed, the improvements will make the library more user friendly and include a bigger junior section.

During this closure, the opening hours of Tredegar House Library will be extended to offer alternative library provision for users.

Tredegar House Library extended hours are closed Monday, Tuesday 9am-1pm, 2pm-4.30pm; Wednesday 9am-12.30 and 1.30pm to 4.30pm; Thursday and Friday 9am to 1pm and 2pm until 4.30pm and Saturday 9am until 1pm.

Councillor Debbie Harvey, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport said: “This refurbishment scheme will give users a more pleasant environment with extra space for our younger readers to enjoy events.

“We hope users of this popular library will bear with us while the work is going on and use the Tredegar House library in the meantime.

“The refurbishment will result in an improved library service when it reopens on April 3.”
