Reminder for prospective council candidates

Newport residents will go to the polls on Thursday 4 May to elect the 50 councillors that will represent them on the city council for the following four years.
Returning officer Will Godfrey is reminding candidates that they have to submit their nominations by 4pm on 4 April.
He said: "This is a strict deadline and no forms will be accepted after 4pm on that day, no matter what the circumstances are. I would urge anyone wishing to stand to ensure their nominations are submitted in plenty of time to avoid any last minute hiccups."
