Posted on Friday 31st March 2017

Newport residents have to sign up for the electoral register by 13 April or they will not be able vote in the council elections in May.

On Thursday 4 May, people will choose the candidates they want to represent them on the city council for the next four years.

Residents can vote by postal ballot or make their crosses in their local polling stations on the day.

However, they cannot have their say unless they are on the electoral register.

There are several ways to apply for registration: online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote telephone 01633 210744 (with date of birth and National Insurance number) or fill in a paper registration form.

The form can also be requested from Newport City Council's electoral services team, telephone 01633 656656 or email [email protected]..
