Council elections: deadlines for postal and proxy votes

Posted on Thursday 13th April 2017

Important deadlines are looming for Newport residents who want to use a postal or proxy vote for the forthcoming local government elections on 4 May.

Applications for postal votes have to be made by 18 April. Another option if you cannot vote in person is to get someone you trust to vote for you. Applications for a proxy vote have to be received by 25 April.

If you already vote by post, but wish to appoint a proxy instead, you must do this by 5pm on 18 April. If you already have a proxy but wish to appoint a new proxy to vote on your behalf, this must also be done by 5pm on 18 April.

Only electors who are registered to vote can have a postal or proxy vote.
