Microsoft Office Message Encryption
Microsoft Office Message Encryption is a secure email and file sharing solution which allows Newport City Council to send personal or confidential emails and documents in a safe manner.
Messages sent via OME are protected with advanced encryption standards.
Is there a cost?
No, it is free to receive encrypted emails from Newport City Council. You are also able to securely reply to those emails.
How do I open an encrypted email?
If you have been sent a secure email you will receive a message, similar to the one shown in the image on this page, stating information.managmement@newport.gov.uk has sent you a protected message.
To access the secure message, you may be asked to enter a ONE TIME CODE which will be sent to your email address. After entering the code, you will be able to read the message and any replies that you send will automatically be encrypted.
If we need to send any documents to you, we will send you a secure link to access these. Again, you will need to enter a ONE TIME CODE which will be sent to your email address.
Please note that emails from Newport City Council will always end with newport.gov.uk
