Shared reading group
Shared reading brings people together to read literature aloud.
A shared reading group meets at Central library on Wednesdays at 11am
Stories, novels, poems and plays are read aloud in groups and then discussed with the aim of reducing social isolation and building stronger communities.
Pioneered by The Reader Organisation, shared reading has been shown to promote better health and well-being, increase social inclusion and remind people of the joys of reading aloud and being read to.
Newport Libraries runs a shared reading group every Wednesday during term-time in Central library at 11am.
If you are interested in coming along to the group and sharing in the delight of listening to reading aloud, you will receive a warm welcome!
