We hope these pages will give you some understanding of the history of the Transporter Bridge and the role it has played in Newport. The Bridge is owned and operated by Newport City Council and forms part of the local highways network.

Transporter Bridge Open Day Monday 30th August!
Open Day
Weather permitting, the high-level walkway of the Transporter Bridge will be open to the public on Bank Holiday Monday, 30 August 2010 from 10.00am to 6.00pm.
A charge of £2 per adult and £1 per child under the age of 16 will be made.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. Sensible shoes must be worn.
Re-introduction of Charges
A charge of £1 per vehicle will be introduced from Tuesday 31 August 2010. There will be no charge for pedestrians, cyclists and motor cyclists.
Operating times
The following times are valid until the end of October 2010.

100 years of history
Newport Transporter Bridge was 100 years old on September 12th 2006 and a special 100th birthday exhibition was held at Newport Museum & Art Gallery to mark the occasion.
