NewLink Community Transport Scheme
NewLink community transport is a service to help those residents of Newport who are unable to use local bus services either because of disability or because they live too far away from the regular bus service.
Users need to apply for membership (pdf) of the NewLink scheme. Membership costs £2.00 per year and members need to be eligible for an All Wales Concessionary Travel Pass.
Where does NewLink operate?
The scheme operates across the City between 10.00am and 4.00pm, Monday to Friday, subject to availability.
How does the scheme work?
Once you’ve joined and are a member of NewLink, follow these steps:
Call (01633) 656656 and book your seat – remember, you have to book at least 24 hours in advance
Request your pick up time and destination which could be:
- Your local GP surgery
- The city centre
- Bus or rail station
- Retail park
- Newport International Sports Village
- Day Centre
- Bingo / Cinema
You will be met at your front door – a carer can travel with you as long as they are also a member of the scheme
Pay the driver £1.00 per journey (a return trip will be £2.00)
NewLink needs you!
If you have a few hours to spare and would like to help your community, why not become a volunteer driver for NewLink? Full training is given and the only thing you need to be is over 25 years old with a full driving licence. Criminal Records Bureau checks will apply.
