Newport City Festival

Saturday 7th August, John Frost Square & Commercial Street

Presented by Urban Circle, a day of music, art and fashion. Get out in the city and get involved. Newport City radio will also be broadcasting. See the Urban Circle website for details.

River of Life

Saturday 11th September, Newport Cathedral & The Riverfront

Inspired by Medieval Mystery Plays, the River of Life develops stories from Stow Hill’s past through drama, dance and music. Starting at Newport Cathedral, performers will wind their way down to the city centre for a theatrical finale in the city centre. Watch this space for full details coming soon!

Shopping

Don’t forget to stock up on all of your essentials at Newport Indoor Market.

Why not take the scenic route to ‘The Ffwrwm’ Arts and Craft Centre, located in High Street, Caerleon, which is open all year and has a selection of smaller shops for gifts.

Parking needn’t be an issue either. Every Sunday there are hundreds of free car parking spaces available throughout Newport City Centre.

Fairtrade City!

Newport is proud of it’s ‘Fairtrade City’ status, with 28 retail outlets and 14 cafes in the city offering at least two fairly traded products. Watch out for a Newport City Fairtrade Directory and visit the Fairtrade website (opens new website) to see how you can support Fairtrade in Newport as well as find information on suppliers and products.

The scheme is based at 193 Upper Dock Street and Kingsway Shopping Centre and operates between 9.15am - 5.00pm.
