Flying Start Team Leader

The funding is targeted on specific catchment areas of schools. Within Newport these are Maindee Primary, Alway Primary, Pillgwenlly Primary, Duffryn Infants, Milton Infants and Monnow Infants. The provision of good quality childcare for children 2-3 years of age is the centrepiece of a menu of services to be delivered under the Flying Start Initiative.
To enable the Flying Start Programme to provide quality childcare for two to three year olds throughout Newport, we are seeking to appoint a Team Leader to work flexibly across a number of venues in Newport. You will oversee the childcare element of Flying Start, providing support to childcare settings delivered by voluntary and statutory bodies.
The post holder will need to register provisions with CSSIW, line manage staff employed by Sure Start who work in the Flying Start settings, and be able to work in partnership with a range of partner agencies.
This post is offered on a fixed term basis to cover Maternity leave from 7th April 2008 - 19th December 2008, Secondments will also be considered.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
