New

The Civil Contingencies Unit actively supports the emergency services and works closely with neighbouring local authorities, health authorities, utility and transport companies, voluntary organisations and government departments to ensure co-ordinated planning and response to potential major emergencies.

The Unit organises and produces corporate and specific hazard related plans and provides staff training and exercising to test these plans.

Plans enable the council to provide a fast, efficient and caring response to major emergencies, ensuring that vital services continue and the community is returned to normality as soon as possible.
