Posted May 2018

A five-year plan to make Newport a better place for those who live and work in the city has been approved by the council and its partners.

One Newport Public Services Board (PSB) is a statutory body made up of the council, Natural Resources Wales, Aneurun Bevan University Health Board and South Wales Fire and Rescue.

Invited partners also sit on the PSB including Coleg Gwent, the Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations and Gwent Police.

In line with the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, the plan sets out the board's priorities and actions for the next five years to improve the social, cultural, economic and environmental well-being of Newport now and in the future.

Councillor Debbie Wilcox, leader of Newport City Council and the chair of One Newport PSB, said:

"The city has much to be proud of, from hosting major internation and sporting events to acclaimed regeneration and award-winning developments.

"It is also home to some cutting-edge technology businesses, major public service employers and has a growing reputation as a hotspot for economic growth.

"One Newport also has to tackle challenges in the city, such as the poverty and disadvantage faced by some residents, to make the city a better place for everyone."
