Consultation  

15 November 2016 - 2 January 2017

The consultation process was an opportunity for people to learn about the proposal, ask questions and make comments that will be recorded and summarised in a consultation report which will be published here and considered when the council takes a decision.

Two drop-in sessions were held for those most directly affected by the proposal with council officers on hand to explain the proposals in more detail and answer any questions:

Responses to this consultation will not be counted as objections to the proposal but will instead counted as adverse comments.

Objections to a proposal can only be registered following the publication of a statutory notice, which is the second stage in the proposal.

This consultation ended midnight, Monday 2 January 2017. 

The proposal

The proposal concerns the establishment of a new English-medium community-maintained primary school on the Jubilee Park housing development to provide education for children aged between 3 and 11 years.

The new school will have a published admission number of 45 for the Reception to Year 6 groups, plus a 24 place nursery class which will accommodate a maximum of 48 children over the two morning and afternoon sessions.

The new school will also have a dedicated class base to support pupils with additional learning needs.

The new school will be established on a growing school basis to support the growing Jubilee Park development.  

Consultation report

When the formal consultation period ended, a consultation report was prepared which summarised the issues and points raised and included a list of frequently asked questions about the proposal.

Statutory Notice Stage

The council's Cabinet Member (CM) for Education and Young People has considered the views and responses received during the formal consultation process and has decided to take forward the proposal.

A Statutory Notice (pdf) was published 8 February 2017 for a period of 28 days following this publication date.

Final decision

The full statutory consultation process has ended on the council’s proposal to establish a new primary school on the Jubilee Park development.

This process passed through the statutory notice stage without objection and a final decision has been taken by the Cabinet Member for Education and Young People to implement the proposal.
