HMO waste management

Managers of houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) must make sure that there are enough rubbish bins for the number of people living there.

They must also contact the council to arrange for litter and waste to be removed if necessary.

It is the responsibility of the HMO manager to ensure that tenants understand and follow the waste management arrangements for the property.  

We will investigate complaints of large amounts of waste outside a property and can work with the owner to resolve the issue.

We will always try to resolve matters informally, however in some circumstances we may have to take formal enforcement action.
