Local history
The Newport Local Studies collection is located on the mezzanine level of Central library.
The collection holds over 40,000 items relating to the history, geography and literature of Newport and the former county of Monmouthshire.
As well as books there are extensive holdings of local newspapers, maps and images.
We also hold several archive collections of national importance including material on the Chartist uprising of 1839, the Mary Delaney letters and the Hanbury-Williams collection.
