Parks and play improvement

Beechwood Park play park

The Parks Team are aiming to improve play areas in Newport. The project has secured funding to upgrade play areas to provide children with safe and fun spaces to play. The project is being undertaken with the input of the community, ensuring that the needs and preferences of local families are considered in the design process through multiple consultations.

This will involve multiple stages, including consultation events to gather feedback from the community on the design and planning, and the implementation of the upgrades. The consultation events provide an opportunity to ensure that the new play areas meet the needs of the local community.

The design and planning phase will be led by a team of experts in the field of play area design and will incorporate feedback from the community. The upgrades will then be implemented to ensure that the new play areas are safe, durable, and fun for children to use.

The project aims to create play areas that are inclusive, accessible, and sustainable, providing children with an opportunity to play in a safe environment. By upgrading the play areas, the project hopes to encourage children to spend more time outdoors, promoting physical activity and social interaction.

Our first consultation will be focused on Pillgwenlly Millenium Centre and Ruperra Street. You can visit our in person consultation Pillgwenlly Asda, Thursday 30 March 9am-4pm.
