Newport Wetlands is a National Nature Reserve with many acres of reedbeds and wetlands crossed by easy to navigate paths.
A wide range of bird species use the reedbeds and mudflats to shelter, nest and find food, including bearded tits, oystercatchers and dunlin.
You can also see dragonflies and the rare shrill carder bee, mammals, snakes and orchids.
The visitor centre has toilets, café and shop.
Natural Resources Wales runs the reserve with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and Newport City Council.
Directions
The reserve car park is on West Nash Road, between Nash Village and Uskmouth Power Station.
From the M4 Junction 24 or 28 take the A48 (Southern Distributor Road) to the southern industrial area, then follow the ‘Brown Duck’ signs from near Newport Retail Park to the Reserve.
