Registering a civil partnership
All civil partnerships in England and Wales must be preceded by civil preliminaries and must take place in a register office or an approved premise.
Contact the register office where you wish to register your partnership to make a booking.
Legal notice must then be given by each party at the register office for the district in which you live.
There will be a waiting period of 28 clear days before the formation can take place.
A civil partnership is formed once the couple have signed the registration schedule in the presence of a registration officer and two witnesses.
There is no requirement for a ceremony as part of the legal process, however, in Newport we offer choices of ceremony to help make the day really special.
