Transporter Bridge transformation project update

Newport City Council would like to update residents regarding the Transporter Bridge transformation project.
As you may be aware, work on the project has been delayed. This was following the news that both previously appointed contractors went into administration over the summer, due to pressures in the industry brought about by the pandemic.
We are anticipating a further delay to work on the project starting, however we are working with our potential new contractors and funding partners to minimise this.
The council has used the delay in work commencing to run further consultation with community groups and stakeholders about the new visitor centre, and what facilities, events and other features they would like to see offered there.
We have also continued our engagement programme, and as part of that we will be creating an exciting series of events over the next few months. Follow the bridge on social media for more updates.
