UK parliamentary election
The UK Parliamentary election, also known as the general election, will take place on Thursday 4 July 2024.
The election gives people the opportunity to choose their Member of Parliament (MP).
More information about the election will be published here, including a list of candidates, when it is available.
Boundary changes will mean changes in parliamentary seats across the UK including Newport.
Residents in the wards of Allt-yr-Yn, Gaer, Graig, Rogerstone West, Rogerstone East, Rogerstone North and Tredegar Park and Marshfield can vote for candidates in the newly created seat of Newport West and Islwyn. The election will be the responsibility of the Caerphilly returning officer, with details available on the council’s website.
The remaining wards of Bettws, Caerleon, Malpas, Pillgwenlly, Shaftesbury and Stow Hill will be in the Newport East parliamentary constituency.
