Licensing Committee
Newport City Council's Licensing Committee is responsible for deciding on applications for street and house to house collections, and taxi driver, vehicle and operators licences.
Three members of the Licensing Committee form a consultative group which meets regularly with representatives of the Newport taxi trade.
The Taxi Licensing Panel decides applications for private taxi and hackney carriage licenses.
The Licensing Sub-Committee conducts hearings and determines applications such as reviews of Premises Licences and Club Premises Certificates under the Licensing Act 2003 and Gambling Act 2005.
The Licensing Committee meeting is open to the public and anyone can attend while non-confidential matters are being discussed.
