May half term play provision (5-12 years)

Play scheme

During May half term, Newport City Council will be offering limited sessional play provision for children aged 5-12 years, from Tuesday 1 June 2021 – Friday 4 June 2021.

Due to current Coronavirus restrictions, the provision will be outdoors using open spaces in local communities across the city, with a maximum of 30 spaces available at each session.

Morning and afternoon sessions will be offered each day from 10am – 11:59am or 1pm – 2:59pm, at the following locations:



North Hub

East Hub

West Hub 

Central Hub

10am – 11:59am

Bettws playing field (opposite high school behind park)

(Welsh provision)

Underwood (playing field)

Tredegar House

Stow Hill (behind share centre)

1pm – 2:59pm

Shaftesbury Park


Ringland (playing field) Stelvio Park Crescent (open space) Lysaghts Park



Following the easing of Covid restrictions, we are now able to offer open access to the sessions above. This means that children can attend on the day without booking. However, a parent/carer MUST be present to sign the required consent forms.

Please note that spaces at each session are limited - all parents/carers who have applied online will be contacted this week and offered a space. Remaining spaces will then be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Who can attend?

  • The family must live in the Newport local authority area
  • The child must be age 5-11 years

Any child who is experiencing symptoms of Coronavirus or has been advised to self-isolate, should not attend the play provision.
