Welsh Government has announced the Freelancer Fund Phase 2 to extend the support available to freelance professionals to help them survive the economic consequences of coronavirus (Covid-19). The fund can grant one-off payments of £2,500 to support eligible freelancers in the cultural/creative sectors who continue to face financial challenges, in the period from 1st April 2021 – 30th September 2021, as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. Sectors eligible for this grant include:
- The Arts;
- Creative Industries;
- Arts and Heritage;
- Culture and Heritage
Phase 2 of the Freelancer Fund will prioritise support to those in areas still significantly impacted by COVID-19, for example in the events, music and performing arts sectors. Freelancers who work in film & TV, video games, software and other digital entertainment industries are not the intended recipients of this support as these markets are now operating at normal or near normal levels. However we understand that some specific roles including those in film & TV may still be affected (e.g. writers / musicians). Where this impact can be shown to be a result of COVID-19 restrictions, we will accept applications.
Those in roles that have been able to continue at previous or near previous levels of activity with or without support should not apply.
Please read the Guidance Notes for full details of eligibility and/or visit the Business Wales Eligibility Checker.
