Review of the Newport City Centre PSPO

A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) can be used to protect the public from behaviour that is having, or is likely to have, a detrimental effect on the quality of life of those in the locality and is or is likely to be, persistent and unreasonable.

A PSPO is enforceable under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

City Centre PSPO

Consultation closed 11 March 2018

The current City Centre PSPO was set up by Newport City Council in November 2015 and will expire in November 2018.

It is being reviewed to see whether the restrictions are appropriate, need to be amended or whether new restrictions should be added.

The survey asked for views on the current City Centre PSPO restrictions, details of any anti-social behaviour you have witnessed and what you would like to see in a revised City Centre PSPO.

Your comments, along with reports from Gwent Police and council officers, will be considered by a council scrutiny group who will make recommendations about the measures they believe should be put into the PSPO.

This recommendation will then be considered by a meeting of the full Council.
