Newport City Council's annual Jobs Fair takes place this year on Wednesday 7 September at Newport Centre, with even more companies and training providers due to attend.

Organised by the council's Work Based Learning Academy (WBLA), it is run in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, Careers Wales and Newport Now.

Hundreds of jobs will be on offer once again from a range of businesses attending the sports and leisure venue in Kingsway. The event will run from 10am to 2pm.

Companies looking for recruits include Admiral, Costain, Debenhams, Argos, Costa Coffee, Lloyds Banking Group, New Look, Bistro Pierre, Electron Power Solutions, Marston's, Infinity Trampoline Park and The Entertainer.

Last year more than 4,000 people visited the Jobs Fair and there was plenty of praise from the prospective employers after the event, particularly about the excellent organisation and high attendance of good quality candidates.

Councillor Roger Jeavons, Newport City Council's Cabinet Member for Community Services, Work and Skills, said: "Once again, there will be a wide range of jobs on offer at the fair and it promises to be another productive day for both employers and those looking for jobs.

"Staff from the WBLA work closely with Jobcentre Plus and Careers Wales to ensure the event goes well. I would like to thank all of them, as well as the businesses and training providers, for their contribution to such an important day for the city."
