Vehicle licence renewals

Coronavirus Covid-19: update 23 July 2020

Newport Transport will recommence vehicle inspections from Monday 20 July 2020. From this date, all three approved testing stations will be in operation

If you have an existing vehicle licence you should receive a renewal letter at least two weeks before your licence expires.

The renewal letter has a unique reference number to use when you apply to renew your licence online.

Please email [email protected] if you have not received your renewal pack.

Your application will be delayed if we do not receive a completed application before the time and date of the vehicle test or if the incorrect payment has been received.

To make sure the vehicle is always licenced it is important that you submit the application in good time and have the vehicle tested before the vehicle licence expires.

As the Information Station is closed every Wednesday, licences for vehicles that pass at the testing station on a Tuesday will be released on Thursday after 9am.

You will not be able to pay for renewal of your vehicle licence online, the fee will automatically be deferred until 1 August 2020 and we will contact you to make payment.

If you would rather pay and not defer the fee, please email [email protected]
