Return of the SuperDragons!

2012 sees the return of 60 brand new, super size, super fun dragons to Newport.

SuperDragons 2 will be hitting the streets of Newport from June 2012 and will be on display at locations throughout the city until September.

Like their predecessors, which were on display as part of Ryder Cup year in 2010, the new SuperDragons will be created throughout the spring by local artists with every dragon bringing a unique commentary to the city.

Thousands of people followed the project in 2010 and we invite you to be involved and support Newport’s newest generation of SuperDragons!

Artist applications

Deadline for submission 26 March 2012

A specially designed SuperDragon has been created to act as a 3D canvas to showcase the creativity of Newport and celebrate 2012.

Your SuperDragon design is welcomed in all art forms from traditional to new media, from sound and video installations to poetry and photography.

Whatever the medium, professional artists, enthusiastic amateurs, artist groups, young people, set designers and photographers are invited to take part.

Submitted designs will be reviewed by a selection committee and artists will then be commissioned artists to complete their work in spring 2012.
