Crindau Pill flood alleviation

3 April 2017 for 10 weeks

Road closure from Edwin Street to Albany Street to enable piling works, a diversion route (pdf) will be in place.

From January 2017

This proposed scheme will extend along the banks of the river Usk and Crindau Pill between the M4 motorway and the mainline railway and will improve flood protection for more than 660 properties.

The road closure is in place from Edwin Street to Albany Street and there will be pedestrian access maintained at all times.

The scheme will improve the local environment with an embankment in Shaftesbury Park, grassed terraces for people to sit and watch matches, new foot and cycle paths and trees and shrubs planted.

M4 junction 28 improvements

Welsh Government, in partnership with the council, are improving the M4 J28 Tredegar Park roundabout, the A467 Bassaleg roundabout, and the Southern Distributor Road (SDR) Pont Ebbw roundabout.

The aim is to increase the amount of traffic that can travel through these roundabouts and so reduce delays on the M4, A48, A467 and SDR, and improve safety on these junctions.
