An application must be made for every child requiring a school place.
For a place at Newport’s voluntary aided (faith) schools apply directly to the school, apart from Malpas Church in Wales Primary School where you should make an application below.
For a place at all other Newport schools, apply below.

Apply for nursery, reception or secondary school
This is where you make an application for the normal year of entry into a school and is known as the normal admissions round.
You must submit your application by the deadline – if you submit your application late it is less likely that your child will be able to have a place at the school of your choice.
Read the school admissions policy 2021/22 (pdf) before making an application so that you understand the terms and conditions under which you are making your application.
Read the online application user guide.

Welsh-medium education
We welcome enquiries from parents wishing to transfer their child from English to Welsh-medium education.
Pupils can be given additional language support to transfer and this is usually successful.
