Scaffolding

You must obtain a licence before putting up scaffolding and hoarding on or over a public highway.

You will need to submit a site location plan and a dimensioned elevation plan together with any special precautionary measures you intend to take to safeguard public safety.

The licence fee is £150 for three months.

You will also need to send a copy of your Public Liability Insurance, insurance cover for a minimum of £5 million is required.

Your licence should be issued within 5 working days and will contain conditions designed to secure the health and safety of the public.

Do not start erecting the structure until you receive the licence

Licences are issued for a set period of time after which you must have safely removed the structure or applied for an extension to the licence.
