Financial inclusion forum

Newport Financial Inclusion Forum works in collaboration with One Newport partnership and other organisations who work with people who may experience financial exclusion, including housing associations, Citizen’s Advice Bureau, the Benefits Service, Pensions Service and credit unions.

The Forum coordinates the development and delivery of the Financial Inclusion Action Plan (pdf) which includes these strands of work:

  • Access to mainstream financial services and debt advice
  • Increasing financial capability and providing affordable credit and savings
  • Income maximisation

The Forum provides opportunities to keep members aware of new policy and interventions and to avoid duplication of activity where possible.

It seeks to address issues with existing policies, procedures and practices that cut across money and debt advice, access to financial services and financial literacy with a view to working with members, service providers and other third parties to tackle barriers to financial inclusion.
