The Ridgeway Bar and Kitchen has been announced as the host venue for the pre-festival supper for this year’s Tiny Rebel Newport Food and Drink Festival.

The best of local produce prepared by top chefs is being promised by the hosts for guests who want to kick-off their foodie weekend on the Friday evening before the main event.

Newport born Michelin star chef, Hywel Jones, patron of the food festival, is designing the main course for the four-course supper menu.

Diners will be welcomed by The Ridgeway team, who boast over 40 years of combined catering experience, with a selection of canapes before sitting down to culinary delights created using local produce and suppliers. There will also be a wine-pairing option with selections made to perfectly complement each course.

David Pell, Director of The Ridgeway Bar and Kitchen, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the established Newport Food Festival to host the official festival supper. Our award-winning team are hard at work preparing the menu for this fabulous event and look forward to working with local suppliers, using their produce for this special dining experience.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to be so heavily involved in our city’s food festival which has really been embraced by the people of Newport and further afield as it continues to grow in size and reputation.”

Councillor Debbie Wilcox, Leader of Newport City Council, said: “It is great that another Newport business is taking a lead role in our festival events. The fine dining on offer at The Ridgeway Bar and Kitchen supper will perfectly complement the festival offering, and by working with local suppliers and produce, we can again highlight the quality of the culinary offering in and around Newport. I’m thoroughly looking forward to attending the event myself!”

The Ridgeway Bar and Kitchen is acknowledged as one of the most exciting independent restaurants in Gwent. Proud of their innovative modern British menu, visitors can expect great brews on tap and a transparent philosophy of serving only the best produce.

They are AA Pub Guide and Alistair Sawdays Pubs and Inns Guide recommended, recognised in the OpenTable Diner’s Choice Awards in 2014 to 2016 and Cask Marque Accredited.

The 2016 Tiny Rebel Newport Food and Drink Festival takes place on Saturday 1 October. Around 80 stalls will line the streets of Newport city centre, and the popular Teenchef competition and expert chef demonstrations will return this year. The main activities will centre on High Street and the areas in and around Newport Market will again have a local focus.

Bookings are now being taken for the supper which takes place on Friday 30 September at 7pm. Tickets are strictly limited and cost £40 per person with the wine pairing option included. To book call The Ridgeway on 01633 266053.
