Summer reading challenge event 23 July

To celebrate this year's summer reading challenge - Record Breakers, Newport Central Library in John Frost Square is holding a special event on Thursday 23 July.

Library Full of Kids, from 10am to 3pm, will be packed with activities for the whole family and is all free.

Lonely Planet Kids are presenting a show of "out of this world records" associated with the book How to be a Space Explorer.

Author Mark Brake and TV presenter Jon Chase will be giving facts and figures from other worlds as well as our own. It is designed to engage with reluctant readers and promote the development of information skills.

All Creatures Great and Small will be bringing along some animals to meet, there will be storytime sessions, treasure hunts, opportunities for children to take over the library, craft activities and face painting.

Newport City Council is encouraging children to join the summer reading challenge and at the same time, for those who complete it, there is a chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 in a draw at the end of the summer.
