Sports pitches fees and charges

Newport City Council's new fees and charges for 2020/21 were approved as part of the budget process that went before all councillors.
While traditionally the council has not charged for youth and junior matches on its pitches, the cost of reinstatement following a match is exactly the same as for an adult match.
However, as the pitch fees range from £10.30 for 11 to 12-year-olds to £20.89 for pitch and changing rooms for 13 to 16-year-olds, they represent a contribution towards the cost of maintenance and compare favourably to other authority areas. In effect, the council will still be subsidising the teams.
Our sports fees and charges also only apply to formal sport pitch fixtures and not training.
Newport City Council has kept its charges as low as possible, but income will go towards the upkeep and maintenance of sports pitches which include line marking and reinstatement work between matches - we have previously received complaints about our lack of investment and maintenance of our sports pitches.
