A programme of work to lay concrete at the concourse of Market Square Bus Station, which started on 1 April, is now entering its second phase.

This means that from Wednesday, 15 May, contractors need to close all the bus stands to complete the schedule of work.

As customers know some services were moved to Queensway so this will continue and will now include the 50 Service going from Stand Q8 and the X5 going from Stand Q2.

Bus services from Stagecoach, NAT and Phil Anslow, impacted by the work will continue to depart from Queensway.

This means that from 15 May, until further notice, the following services will operate as follows:

Q8 – X15, 15, 50

Q7 – 56, R1

Q6 – 151

Q5 – 24X

Q4 – X24

Q3 – N2, N3

Q2 – X5

The First Severn Express will use the stop outside Newport railway station.

A spokesperson for Newport City Council said: “Contractors need access to the whole of the Market Square Bus Station in order for this work to be complete.

“This means the bus services that were operating there while the work was taking place will now all move to Queensway, apart from the First Severn Express 7X, which stops outside the train station.

“We apologise for any inconvenience, if customers are unsure about services please contact the relevant bus company. Thanks to everyone for your patience.”
